Grjótagjá Cave - Melting Snow

from Sounds of Iceland by Moments In Sound

/

about

This cave is famous for having features in a Game of Thrones love scene with John Snow. Located near Lake Myvatn in North Iceland, it's a tiny space formed in the crust of lava, with a hot geothermal spring that creates a warm pool. It can only fit a few people at a time and is no longer permitted for public bathing. I was honoured to have the place to myself to record quietly and enjoy the magical sounds during the pandemic. Ordinary there is not much to listen to, but as the snow was melting, it was filled with beautiful melodies as the water drops surrounded me.
